The Comeback

The story takes place in Lake Placid, where the 1980 Winter Olympics happened. Maxine Chen is a 12-year-old ice skater who faces a new rival and deals with bullying and racism at school. Despite these challenges, Maxine makes a great comeback on and off the ice.

I like this book because I love ice skating too. Maxine is determined and works hard, even when a new girl, who’s a great skater, moves in. They become friends, and Maxine inspires me to improve my skating and enjoy it more.
