I Lived Inside a Whale

Xin Li

Emma Wen is a very quiet girl, but her family is always pretty loud. She would like to find a place to be calm and quiet. One day, she reads about a blue whale with a really big heart, and people could stand inside it. Her imagination grew, and she built a little boat from things she found in her house. She sails from her bedroom into the whale's mouth. She found peace and silence inside the whale. But then, a boy shows up. His name is Owen Tang, and he is exactly the opposite of Emma. He is loud and annoys her. However, after a while, they became friends. She learns to appreciate him. She also learns to find her own voice.

I can relate to Emma because sometimes I enjoy being quiet and reading a book by myself. Emma is so imaginative and gets away from the noisy world by sailing into the inside of a big blue whale. She can be silent and peaceful without being bothered by others. Things change, after she meets with Owen, she did not like him at the beginning but he taught her how to be playful and silly.
