Eyes That Kissed in a Corner
Joanna Ho
Eyes That Kiss in the Corners is about a young Asian girl who notices her eyes are different from her classmates’. The other kids have big, round eyes, hers are small and shaped like almonds. At first, she felt a little bit disappointed. But then she thinks about how her mom, grandma (Amah), and little sister all have eyes just like hers. They are all warm and loving people. She starts to appreciate the beautiful shape of their eyes like warm tea. From her eyes, she sees the love of her family, the past of her culture, and her eyes are the window to the future.
I think that the pictures in this book are very pretty, and I like to look at them a lot. I liked this book. My eyes are like the girl in the book, and they are pretty.
