Picture Us in the Light
Kelly Loy Gilbert
Picture Us in the Light is about Danny Cheng, a high school senior and talented artist growing up in California. He seems to have a perfect future ahead, but everything changes when he uncovers some family secrets. He tries to understand his parents' hidden past and deals with grief. He also had troubles with his future, art, and his feelings for his best friend. The story explores the pressure to succeed and the importance of knowing the people you love.
This book was emotional and eye-opening. Danny's story and his struggle with identity were relatable, and made me reflect on how complex our parents' lives can be. I appreciated the honest look into mental health, grief, and the complexities of friendship.
