Outrun the Moon

Outrun the Moon is a story about a young Chinese girl named Mercy Wong, who comes from an immigrant family that moved to San Francisco. Despite her status as a young woman, she dreams about escaping the lower, poorer class and becoming rich. She uses her skills to apply to St. Clare's school for girls and gets in. However, this was the year the earthquake struck San Francisco, and the city was in ruins after a massive fire. Mercy and the girls at the school must help fix the city

After reading the book, I learned several lessons, including that despite her background and ethnicity, Mercy persevered and managed to achieve her goals. That showed me that no matter the hardships, such as racism and natural disasters, if you work hard, you can rise to the top and achieve your goals and dreams.
